Both Crowns & Bridges are fixed prosthetic devices which are cemented onto existing teeth and can only be removed by the dentist.
CLINICAL CONDITIONS WHERE CROWN & BRIDGES REQUIRED ?
HOW DO BRIDGES WORK?
Bridges are required when more or more teeth are missing. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into empty spaces resulting in bad bite, gum diseases or temporo-mandibular joint disorders. Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. Brides are cemented to the natural teeth surrounding the missing space.
Before fabrication of crown or a bridge, the teeth supporting it must be reduced in size so as to receive the crown or bridge over it with proper fit.
We at our clinic help you decide the choice of material used for the fabrication of crown or bridge which depends upon location of missing tooth in mouth, function, esthetics and cost.
TYPES OF CROWNS & bridges
Crowns and Bridges last for good 8 to 10 years if supporting teeth are healthy. The life span of bridges can be more provided they are maintained properly with good oral hygiene.
